Solid silver model of a crab. Beautifully made and finished in superb detail. The crab's silver shell cover is hinged and opens to reveal a polished interior where seafood or caviar could be served. It is a wonderful decorative piece in its own right. The back legs are stamped with the Spanish silver hallmark indicating .915, or 91.5% silver purity. Also with the makers mark for Platerio Lopez Plata de Ley. The mark indicates that it was made between 1934-85. This is probably 1950s. Width 20.5cm. Height 6cm Depth 13cm 487gm
