A George VI sterling silver and guilloche enamel compact, Birmingham 1951 by Henry Clifford Davis. A square compact case, the lid with engine turned decoration topped with translucent white enamel, painted with a pheasant in flight with shrubbery. Engine turned reverse. Fully marked to the interior and stamped ‘Made in England’. Henry Clifford Davis enamelled many compacts with a floral decoration but the rarer ones are those with birds.
Length 7.5 cm (3in) Weight 116 gm
Very good condition with the enamel in a good state of preservation with only minor scratching and scuffs commensurate with age and use.
