An interesting bowl manufactured in Tours, France; An impressed mark of an axe ‘hache’ on the base along with three stilt marks from the kiln. In cobalt blue and gold ‘bleu de tours et or’ which draws on the celebrated ‘blue de Sevres’. The bowl is decorated with bees, swags and an eagle sitting on arrows. It is beautifully gilded and has a leaf pattern round the rim. There are two angular handles.
